The third game, Hell's Highway, puts the player back in control of Sergeant Matt Baker during the ill-fated Operation Market Garden. After Red's promotion, his squad clears out the remnant of the German forces from Carentan and moves towards Saint-Sauveur-le-Vicomte to give the 82nd Airborne some maps of the German defenses surrounding the area and decides to stay and help take the castle. It shows some of the events in the first game from Red's perspective, leading to his promotion to Sergeant after the Battle of Bloody Gulch. The game uses a suppression mechanic that requires the player to use Baker and his squad to suppress and flank the enemy.Įarned In Blood puts you in control of "Red" Hartsock, a Corporal in Baker's squad. Baker can tell his men where to take cover and who to fire at. The game depicts the midnight jump before D-Day, the fighting on the way to the French city of Carentan, its capture from the Germans and the subsequent defense against the German counter-attack at Hill 30.
The first title in the series, Road to Hill 30, puts you in control of Sergeant Matt Baker, a paratrooper in the 101st Airborne of the US Army during the Normandy invasion. It has spinoffs for handheld consoles and mobile phones titled D-Day, DS, Art of War, N-Gage, Double Time, Hour of Heroes, and Global Front.

It took me two days to sort the problems out and get my my computer working again. I didn't do either of these and the game "crashed" when I tried to run it.

It can be made to work but one has to download a risky "No CD patch" or mess about with the setting on one's computer. I have discovered (via various games players on the Internet) that this particular "disc based" game will NOT work on many computers - no matter which version of Windows one has installed. (and I already have the two previous Brothers in Arms games - Road to Hill 30, and Hell's Highway - which work perfectly).

I could not get the game to work on my new computer (even though I'd got Windows 7 installed. It was very, very good value for money! But, (and it is a BIG but!). Bought a new computer three years ago, and decided to buy this game again. I mislaid the game when we moved house five years ago. I used to play "Brothers in Arms - Earned in Blood" on an older computer. Great game - if you can get it to work without crashing your computer!
